Popular Enugu politician and stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Oscar Egwuonwu, has died. Egwuonwu, a former governorship and senatorial aspirant, was said to have died in an Enugu hospital. Although details of his death were still sketchy at the time of this report,  EverydayNewsNGR  gathered that he was rushed to the hospital following a recent sickness. Egwuonwu was the Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government during the administration of former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani. He was also a senior pastor and the founder of the YEE Prayer Ministry Inc. According to witnesses, Ouma, fondly called Jeff, had just returned from work when his wife confronted him about the household items they lacked. The man had earned significantly less that day due to heavy rainfall affecting business. An argument ensued when he was unable to provide the money she demanded. In a fit of rage, the woman rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and moved toward him. Sensing danger, Ouma attempted to flee but slipped and fell. His wife then allegedly stabbed him in the chest, killing him instantly. By the time neighbors arrived, it was too late to save him. The couple had been married for about five years and had a child.   The Enugu State Government has intensified the roll-out of 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the 260 wards in the state, as Governor Peter Mbah visited one of the facilities at Otukwu community in Emene Enugu, at the weekend. This was even as the administration said it had reduced by over 400 per cent, the national average maternal mortality of 512 deaths per every 100,000 live births, which it inherited. Speaking at the event in Enugu East LGA, Mbah stressed that his administration was intentional in disrupting the unacceptable poor state of the primary healthcare system from the outset, as a healthy population and workforce was at the core of his government’s vision to grow the state’s economy from $4.4bn to $30bn.
