SAD! Angry Mob Burn Two Suspected Phone Snatchers Alive

  Two suspected phone thieves were lynched and set ablaze by an angry mob on Friday morning in the Kabong community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State. The incident occurred in the early hours when the suspects were allegedly attacking passersby and road users, robbing them of their phones and other valuables. According to eyewitnesses, the suspects had been terrorizing the community for some time, frequently seizing phones, laptops, and money from residents. On this occasion, a mob quickly gathered after the thieves struck again, chasing and apprehending them. While some of the thieves managed to flee, the two men were caught and brutally set on fire by the crowd. BREAKING: Enugu State Govt Cancels November Clean-up Exercise

   The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced the cancellation of the scheduled clean-up exercise for November 30, 2024, to allow the State Government to honor the funeral of the mother of the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia. The burial ceremony is expected to draw numerous dignitaries and visitors from across the state. In a public service announcement, ESWAMA explained that the decision was made to ensure proper arrangements for the burial ceremony, which will be a significant event for the government and the people of Enugu State. ESWAMA expressed regret for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause but urged the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings by properly bagging their waste for disposal. The authority thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation and assured that regular clean-up exercises would resume as scheduled in the future.

Enugu Adolescent Girls Innovative sensitizes school girls on menstrual hygiene, distributes materials

  The World Bank-assisted Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) in Enugu State has launched a campaign to educate school girls in the state on the importance of menstrual hygiene and abstaining from premarital sexual activity.  The campaign, sponsored by a US-based charity organization, 'Could You', witnessed the distribution of hundreds of menstrual cups valued at between ₦15,000 and #25,000 each to the school girls.   President Bola Tinubu has appointed four individuals to join the Police Service Commission (PSC) and has forwarded their names to the Senate for approval. The nominees include Buba Ringim (rtd), a former Deputy Inspector General of Police; retired Justice Adamu Paul Galumje; Christine Ladi Dabup; and Abdulfatah Muhammed. The request for their confirmation, communicated by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, is in accordance with Section 154(1) of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution. In his letter, President Tinubu expressed his hope that the Senate would approve the appointments swiftly. In a separate request, President Tinubu nominated three individuals for the Governing Board of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The nominees are Fatai Ibikunle, Kennedy Ikpeme, and Justice Ibrahim Buba. This nomination also aligns with the constitutional provisions outlined in Section 154(1) and the Third Schedule of Nigeria’s Constitution.

    The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has ordered the remand of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following charges of an alleged ₦110 billion fraud. During today’s court session, Yahaya Bello, along with his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, pleaded not guilty to a series of charges, including conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and possession of unlawfully obtained property. Bello’s legal team filed a bail application, but the court adjourned the matter until December 10th, when it will rule on whether the former governor will be granted bail. In the meantime, he will remain in the custody of the EFCC as the legal proceedings continue. The case has attracted significant attention, as the accused individuals face serious allegations related to financial misconduct during Bello's tenure as governor.

The announcement was made on Monday during the Sokoto State 2025 Citizens Budget Discussion, which took place at the Sultan Abubakar Maccido Institute of Quranic and General Studies. The initiative followed a request by the former deputy governor of Sokoto State, Chiso Abdullahi, who urged the governor to provide funds to help school principals cover the immediate maintenance needs of their schools. Abdullahi explained that the allowance would assist in repairing minor damages to infrastructure and would allow schools to mobilize workers like carpenters and masons to carry out repairs without waiting for long government approval processes. The State Commissioner of Police in his latest announcement, Ibrahim Abdullahi, revealed that the police have made significant arrests in their ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the region. Abdullahi, who assumed office as the 44th Commissioner of Police on October 21, 2024, reported that 523 suspects were apprehended for various crimes, including kidnapping, car theft, cattle rustling, phone snatching, and rape. Among those arrested, 26 individuals were identified as kidnappers, 12 were involved in cattle rustling, 97 were phone snatchers, 17 were car snatchers, and 10 others were suspected of rape. The police also seized an array of weapons and recovered stolen property, including five AK-47 rifles, two pistols, a submachine gun (SMG), 283 rustled cows, 20 sheep, 105 rounds of live ammunition, and 102 kidnapped victims were rescued.
